Article marketing is a time proven method of promoting your website. One writes an article and submits it to an article directory. The article directory publishes the article on their site and makes the article available for reprinting.

In addition to the article at the end there is a resource box. This is where you are able to place links to your site or product. These links then become backlinks to your site and increase the authority of your site.

There are three possible benefits from article marketing:

1. The article will be available for viewing/reading on the article site.
2. The search engines are very active on the major article sites and will pick up your backlinks.
3. The article may be reprinted on a website or in an ezine.

What is Niche Article Marketing?

In addition to the major article directories there are specialized directories in many niches. These directories focus on a fairly narrow group of categories related to a specific area of interest.

While the traffic to a niche directory may be orders of magnatude less than to the major article directories, the traffic that does come to the site will be much more targeted. With the major article directories your article can be lost in a sea of articles. You may stay on the front page of the directory for only a few minutes and the front page of your category for anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

Because the volume of submissions is much lower with the niche directories you may stay near the top for a longer period of time. It is possible that more quality traffic will see your article than on one of the major article directories.

The Power of Keywords

Keywords are what powers Internet search. Weather you submit your article to a major article directory or a niche article directory some keyword research can improve the return on the time you spend writing the article. People search by typing search terms into the search box. If you use the words that they type into the search box you may show up in the search results and people may find your site or article.

Keyword research takes a bit of time but it is always worthwhile. That is what can bring the search traffic to you.
